Try solving for the variable and get everything to one side
start by moving all whole numbers to one side and all x values to the other so you would subtract 2 from each side first and be left with 9x=8x+7 and then you would subtract 8x from both sides and you would have 1x=7 and lastly you would divide each side by 1 and be left with your answer x=7
