We know that the quadrants are: I : from 0 to pi/2 II : from pi/2 to pi III: from pi to 3*pi/2 IV: from 3*pi/2 Then as our angle is 7*pi/6 and that is between: pi < 7*pi/6 < 3*pi/2 so it lies on the 3rd quadrant
