[tex] \frac{1}{4}*40- \frac{1}{4}*8x=19x-5x+2 [/tex]
10-2x=14x+2
Add 2x on both sides: 10=16x+2
subtract 2 on both sides: 8=16x
divide by 16 on both sides: x=8/16=[tex] \frac{1}{2} [/tex]
