Step 1. Subtract 8 from both sides
[tex]y-8=3x[/tex]
Step 2. Divide both sides by 3
[tex] \frac{y-8}{3} =x[/tex]
Step 3. Switch sides
[tex]x= \frac{y-8}{3} [/tex]
