Acceleration is defined as the rate of change of velocity

It can be calculated as the ratio of change in the velocity to the time interval

i.e.

[tex]\text{acceleration=}\frac{change\text{ in velocity}}{total\text{ time}}=\frac{58.25-20}{9}[/tex]

Which gives us acceleration = 4.25 m/s^(2)
