SOLUTION

From the question, Chris speed was 7 km/hr and he rides a distance of 17.5 kilometers.

Speed is given by the formula

[tex]speed=\frac{distance}{time}[/tex]

So putting in the values we have

[tex]\begin{gathered} 7=\frac{17.5}{t} \\ 7t=17.5 \\ dividing\text{ both sides by 7, we have } \\ \frac{7t}{7}-=\frac{17.5}{7} \\ t=\frac{17.5}{7} \\ t=2.5\text{ hours } \end{gathered}[/tex]

Hence the answer is 2.5 hours
