We are to factor the expression;

[tex]2x^2-8x-10[/tex]

We go about it this way;

1. Multiply the constant with the second power term to obtain;

[tex]-20x^2[/tex]

Lets obtain factors of this that adds up to give -8x, we have

-10x and 2x

[tex]\begin{gathered} 2x^2-10x+2x-10 \\ 2x(x-5)+2(x-5) \\ (2x+2)(x-5) \end{gathered}[/tex]
