SOLUTION:

Case: Conversion:

[tex]1\text{ }quart=32\text{ }ounces[/tex]

Method:

If each person drinks 16 ounces of lemonade,

5 people therefore drank:

[tex]\begin{gathered} 5\times16\text{ }ounces \\ 80\text{ }ounces \end{gathered}[/tex]

Converting to quart

32 ounces is 1 quart

80 ounces will be:

[tex]\begin{gathered} \frac{80}{32} \\ =2.5\text{ }quarts \end{gathered}[/tex]

Final answer:

They drank a total of 2.5 quarts of lemonade
