From (1), let's solve for x:

[tex]\begin{gathered} x=\frac{y+4}{4} \\ x=\frac{y}{4}+1 \end{gathered}[/tex]

replace the value of x into (2):

[tex]\begin{gathered} 4(\frac{y}{4}+1)=3x-1 \\ y+4=3x-1 \\ y=3x-5 \end{gathered}[/tex]

From (1):

[tex]y=4x-4[/tex]
