If a number is tripled & the result is increased by 5, we get 50. Find the number.​

Solution:

Let x be the number

Triple the number=3x

According to the question,

3x+5=50

⇒3x+5−5=50−5          [Subtract 5 from both sides]

⇒3x=45

⇒ x = 45/3

​           [Divide 3 from both sides]

⇒x=15

∴15 is the required number. When it is tripled and increased by 5, we get 50.
