Why does the ship made up of iron floats while the iron nail sink down in the sea?

Because of a majority of factors that aren't present in an nail. For example, it you crumble up an piece of aluminum foil, it won't float. But it you fold the edges upwards, it will float. It's pretty much the same with an iron ship, it's designed to be able float. Hope this helps!
