X= 2y+11

The sum of the numbers (x+y) is/= to 1 less than (-1) seven times (7y)
X+y=7y-1

Substitute X= 2y+11 into X+y=7y-1


2y+11 +y=7y-1
Simplify

3y+11=7y-1
12=4y
Y=3

Put y into the first equation

X= 2y+11
X =2*3+11
X=6+11
X=17
