The ideas of Locke, Montesquieu, Hobbes and. Rousseau. Montesquieus ideas inspired the separation of power in our government (legislative, executive, and judicial branches). Lockes ideas inspired the idea of natural rights. Hobbes believed in and contributed to the idea that everyone should obey one power. Rousseau influenced the idea of the social contract where society agrees to give up certain rights so that they can be protected by government.
