In a hydraulic system, why is the force exerted on a small piston multiplied when it acts on a larger piston?

The force multiplies because of Pascal's law .

Explanation:

  • Pascal's law states that " when there is an increase in pressure at any point in a confined fluid, there is an equal increase at every other point in the container".
  • So, in a hydraulic system where it is a confined fluid system, where the dimensions of two sides are very different, due to it there is an increased amount of force.
